Effective Date: July 2025
Last Updated: June 2026

At BARBURAS (barburas.com), your privacy is treated with the highest degree of respect and discretion. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data Controller

The data controller responsible for the processing of your personal data is:

For all privacy-related inquiries, please contact us via the email address listed on our Contact Page.

2. Analytics & Tracking

On barburas.com, we use Matomo Analytics in a strictly cookieless configuration. This means:

  • No personal data is collected.
  • No cookies are placed or stored.
  • IP addresses are anonymized.
  • Browser “Do Not Track” signals are fully respected.

As a result, no user consent is required for analytics under GDPR guidelines.

This website does not serve any advertisements, including personalized or behavioral advertising.

3. Data Collected During Checkout

While we do not require customers to create accounts, we do collect essential personal data at checkout, including:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional for Whatsapp/Signal updates)

This information is strictly limited to what is necessary for payment processing and order fulfillment. We do not collect unnecessary data such as birthdate or gender.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following GDPR-compliant service providers:

  • Wordfence – for malware scanning and security protection.
  • Google Fonts – fonts may be loaded from Google servers, which may involve IP address requests.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing or profiling purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain order-related information only as long as legally required for financial and administrative purposes. No customer profiles are created or stored beyond transactional data.

6. Hosting

Our website is hosted on servers located within the European Union. Hosting is managed and operated by BARBURAS, ensuring full control over data storage and access.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject, you have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Object to the processing of your data
  • Request data portability
  • File a complaint with your local supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via the email address provided on our Contact Page.

8. Android Apps, WordPress Plugins & Home Assistant Addons

BARBURAS develops and maintains a suite of open source Android apps, WordPress plugins, and Home Assistant addons, available on GitHub (https://github.com/andreibarburas).

No data is collected by BARBURAS from any of these apps, plugins, or addons. Specifically:

  • The Android apps communicate exclusively with your own self-hosted infrastructure. No data is transmitted to BARBURAS or any third-party server controlled by BARBURAS.
  • Some apps optionally use AI vision APIs (Claude, OpenAI); these are called directly from your device using your own API keys. BARBURAS never sees your keys or the content analyzed.
  • The WordPress plugins run entirely within your own WordPress installation and do not transmit any data to BARBURAS.
  • The Home Assistant addons run entirely within your own local network and home automation environment.
  • No analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or telemetry of any kind are included in any app, plugin, or addon.

Location Data (Qarib)
The Qarib app accesses device location, including background location, to detect when the user is near a saved place and trigger a local notification. Location data is processed entirely on-device and is never collected, stored, transmitted, or shared with BARBURAS or any third party. Background location is used solely to power geofence notifications when the app is closed or not in use.

Optional donation links in the app settings (https://bunq.me/barburasdonations) direct you to a third-party payment service. Any transaction you choose to make is governed by that service’s own privacy policy.

The source code for all apps, plugins, and addons is publicly available on GitHub, where it can be independently verified.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
